Interactive Small Group Coaching class
In this small group coaching class we will take our communications skills to the next level of ease and effectiveness. We will learn the concepts of Embodied Communication and practice them together with our classmates in a fun, safe, and supportive environment.
Effective Listening
Effective communication means simply:

Fully understanding what someone is telling you, the complete message, not just the words

Expressing yourself fully and clearly, so other people have the opportunity to receive you

This workshop is for you if

You work in tech: you are an engineer, engineering manager, director, PM, TPM, VP, etc.

You have reached a point in your career when technology becomes relatively easy, but people are still hard

You’re curious to learn and grow in the “people” aspect of things

You think you have consensus, and are later surprised when the other person/team does something completely different
Smart, competent people (you?) in a meeting go round and round in circles arguing passionately about some unimportant detail
You are finding it difficult to get your team to understand and respect your priorities
You’re talking with a colleague, and you realize that they are completely missing your point, and you don’t know how to get through
Or maybe you simply realize how vital effective communication is for your success, and want to get better at it
This pragmatic, interactive, hands-on class is designed specifically for YOU, the smart, competent tech leader, to help you take your communication skills to a whole new level of effectiveness!
About the Class
Much like riding a bike, you can not learn new ways of communicating by intellectualizing about it, only by practicing. That's why this class is only about 10-20% theory, the rest is practice.
This is not passive learning, where you simply listen to materials presented. This class is highly experiential -- we will be meeting in a small group on Zoom, you will need to be on camera and participating. You will be doing exercises in dyads and triads with other participants. You will explore and discover what the concepts mean to YOU personally (always an unexpected and surprising experience), and share your findings with the group, in a safe, supportive environment.
What you will learn
Communication, not Manipulation
We are not going to try to intellectually decipher other people's body language to learn their secrets; or control our own bodies so no one learns ours. That's not the goal. Instead, we will learn to be in alignment with our truth so that our body and our words send the same message; and we will learn to fully receive another person's message. True communication is infinitely more powerful than any subversive manipulation.
What the heck is "Embodied"?
The word "embodied" gets thrown around a lot these days, but what does it actually mean as it relates to communication? We will investigate this question, and practice tuning into what our own body is communicating when we speak, and what our body is receiving as we listen.
Tap into more Data
Verbal communication is only one of the data streams available to us as we are talking to someone. In this class, we will slow way down and learn to tune in and leverage super valuable streams of data that are always there and available, but go largely unused.
